Skills — the core list

Forza skills carry forward across titles with minor naming tweaks. Confirmed from FH4/FH5 reference plus FH6 in-game pop-ups. Points shown are base values before perks/car-mastery multipliers.

Standard skills (the building blocks)

SkillHow to triggerBase
AirGet any wheels off the ground from a jump/crest100
BurnoutSpin wheels stationary on tarmac, no drift100
Clean RacingComplete a race section without a heavy collision100
DraftingSit in another car's slipstream100
DriftHold a slide angle100
E-DriftInitiate a drift with the handbrake100
J TurnDrive in reverse, snap 180° into forward100
Near MissPass non-racing traffic closely at speed100
One EightyQuick 180° direction change (not from reverse)100
PassOvertake a racing opponent closely100
Skill ChainMultiple skills back-to-back without the bar emptying100
SpeedHold ~100+ mph (161+ km/h) for a sustained stretch100
Trade PaintGraze the side of another car50
Two WheelsDrive on two wheels100
WreckageSmash any breakable item100

Each base skill has "Great / Awesome / Ultimate" tiers that multiply points (e.g. Great Drift, Ultimate Skill Chain). Tier-ups are driven by duration, count, or quality of the action.

Combination & Named Skills

These are the ones challenges actually call out by name. "Perform X" means just trigger it once — no need to keep a chain alive unless the challenge says so.

Combinations (two skills at once or in quick succession)

SkillHow to triggerBase
Airborne PassAir + Pass at the same time (overtake mid-jump)1,000
Crash LandingAir → Wreckage within ~1s (land into something breakable)1,000
Ebisu StyleGreat Air or better → Great Drift or better on landing1,000
Lucky EscapeDrift + Near Miss simultaneously1,000
ShowoffPass + Drift simultaneously1,000
SideswipeWreckage + Drift simultaneously (clip a fence mid-slide)1,000
SlingshotDrafting → Pass in quick succession1,000
StuntmanAir → Near Miss on landing1,000
Drift TapLightly touch a wall/car while drifting (no slowdown)1,000

Special / named (the ones playlist challenges love to ask for)

SkillHow to triggerBase
Hard ChargerBurnout → Speed within 30s. Sit still, hold throttle+brake to spin the tires, release and hit 100+ mph before timer dies.1,000
KangarooThree Air skills back-to-back (jump-jump-jump). Cobblestone/curb chains work; doesn't need big air.1,000
Wrecking BallThree Wreckage skills back-to-back. Easy in built-up areas — row of fences, road barriers.1,000
Triple PassThree Pass skills back-to-back in a race1,000
DaredevilThree Near Misses back-to-back in heavy traffic1,000
Threading the NeedleTwo Near Misses on both sides at once (split a pair of cars)1,000
Barrel RollFull sideways airborne rotation, land clean1,000
Clean Start!Start of a race with zero contact2,000
Speed ChampionsLaunch from a boost ramp1,000
Ultimate Skill ChainReach the top chain tier (the bar maxes out, screen flashes). Usually 80k+ chain score depending on multipliers.tier reward

Object-smash skills (Wreckage variants)

All count as Wreckage for combo purposes (Sideswipe, Crash Landing, Wrecking Ball). The named ones grant a bonus the first few times per session.

Guardrails count as Wreckage too — your guardrail-clearing habit at Hakone naturally feeds Wrecking Ball + Sideswipe combos.

Car Mastery perks worth knowing

Universal skill-score perks worth unlocking on any car you grind chains on:

PerkEffect
Quick MathsSkill score builds faster — get this first on any chain car.
It's Sliding+% from drift skills
DorykinBoosts drift skill values further (stacks with It's Sliding)
Big Air+10% from jump skills
Hop to It+10% from Kangaroo
Dropping In+15% from Crash Landing
Unbreakable+15% from Wrecking Ball
This Is Fine+15% from Wreckage skills
Stay On / Stay UpExtends the chain bar timer — buys you time between hits
Skill-point farm: Maloo or any high-speed RWD around the outside of the stadium in the west of the map. Wide loop, side-to-side wiggle, no obstacles to break the chain. ~10 skill points/min once perks are stacked.

Festival Playlist — what the objectives actually mean

UI quirk: playlist task names often don't match any in-game filter. The event filter list is the canonical truth — task names are marketing copy. When in doubt, check the event icon on the map (color + shape), not the word.

Wristband progression

Event types & where to find them

Milestone events (one-time / wristband gated)

EventWhat it isWhere in UI
Horizon QualifierOpening cruise, gates the first wristbandStory / Wristband milestone, not in race filters
Horizon InvitationalScripted intro race seriesStory / Wristband milestone
ShowcaseClassic set-piece race vs plane/train/etc. Only two in FH6.Showcase filter on map
Horizon Rush newTimed obstacle course, sectored, solo/co-op/PVP. Three total: Dockyard (Tokyo), Alpine Ski Resort, Spaceport coast.Filed as Milestone / Showcase-adjacent. Not its own filter. Look for the unique trophy/star milestone icon on the map.
"Complete a Horizon Rush event" in playlist: open map → look for the three Rush icons (Dockyard, Alpine ski lodge, Spaceport SW coast) → they show as Milestone-style icons, not normal race blips. If you don't see them at all, you haven't earned the wristband that unlocks them yet.

Standard race events

EventNotes
Road RacingTarmac circuits/sprints. Filter by surface.
Dirt RacingMixed unpaved. Different car class lineup than Cross Country.
Cross CountryOff-road point-to-point, anywhere goes between checkpoints.
Time Attack / Circuit Time TrialSolo ghost runs against board times.
Drag MeetStraight-line. Watch for "drag-only" tunes when entering.
Street RaceNight-only city sprints (carryover from FH5 structure).

PR Stunts (the 5 PR types)

TypeObjective3-star key
Speed TrapMax speed through a single gateLong run-up + top-speed tune; rewind if traffic ruins it
Speed ZoneMaintain average speed across a sectionHandling + accel matter more than peak speed; smooth inputs
Danger SignJump distance off a rampApproach angle ~45° off-line; tune: low ride height, stiff rear, low downforce
Drift ZoneDrift score through a sectionManual 2nd/3rd, link every corner, wall touches kill score temporarily. Your guardrail-clearing helps here.
TrailblazerCross-country A→B against the clockStraight-line aggression, off-road suspension, lift instead of brake

Playlist "specialty" categories (the verbose ones)

Playlist phrasingWhat it actually is
"Seasonal Championship"3-race series, fixed car class & theme. Win overall.
"Seasonal PR Stunt"A specific PR stunt with a higher 3-star target than its normal version
"Seasonal Playground Games" if returnsTeam modes — King / Flag Rush / Survival. PVP.
"The Trial" gold wristbandCo-op vs Unbeatable AI, 6v6. Needs teammates who finish.
"#Forzathon Weekly"4-step chain. Each step = a skill or event. Completes the chain in order.
"#Forzathon Daily"Single small task, refreshes every 24h.
"Photo Challenge"Take a photo of X car at Y location. Just snap and submit.
"Treasure Hunt"Riddle → do a thing → find a chest. The riddle is the only clue.
"EventLab Featured"Community-made custom events. Filter says EventLab, not "Featured."

Common playlist verbs — what to actually do

PhraseTranslation
"Win a [class] race in a [country] car"Any normal race event — series qualifies. Filter cars by origin in garage.
"Earn 3 stars at any Drift Zone"Hit the gold-tier score on any DZ. Bug-prone: sometimes 3-star earned in freeroam doesn't tick — re-enter via the event launcher to register.
"Smash X destructibles"Any Wreckage-skill objects. Fences count multiple times.
"Earn a Hard Charger skill"Burnout → Speed in 30s. Do it from a stop on highway shoulder; spin tires 1–2s, launch.
"Get a Kangaroo skill"Three jumps in quick succession. Cobblestone rows, speed bumps, off-road washboard.
"Wreck a [object]"That specific named object (see Object Smashes table).
"Pass [N] cars cleanly"Pass skills in a race, no contact. Drag races don't always count.
"Reach skill score of X in a single chain"One chain, no break. Use Quick Maths + stadium farm.
"Beat a Rival's time in a [country] car"Rivals mode → pick a Time Attack/PR — must be done from the Rivals menu, not freeroam. tracking bug-prone

Known playlist tracking bugs & workarounds

Events not rendering on map: some playlist items fail to spawn their event icon even though the task is listed. Workaround order:
  1. Hard restart the game (full quit, not just menu).
  2. Drive away ~2km and come back; map streaming sometimes drops icons in dense areas (Tokyo, Hakone).
  3. Toggle Online/Solo — some events only render in one mode.
  4. Open the playlist menu and click the task itself; if it offers "Travel to event," use that instead of map-clicking.
Completion not registering: classic example — beat a ghost rival in a Japanese car, banner pops, task stays unchecked. Workarounds:
  • Re-launch the same event once more — most ghost/rival tasks tick on the second clean completion.
  • Make sure the car is in the required category at the moment you finish, not when you started (livery/tune swaps mid-run can desync the check).
  • Force a save: go to a Festival site → menu → exit to main menu → reload. Don't trust the auto-save for playlist progress.
  • If still stuck, do an unrelated playlist task; the ledger sometimes re-validates everything on the next tick.
Horizon Rush "not found" in UI: there's no Rush filter. The three events are filed as Milestone/Showcase. They appear on the map only after the gating wristband. If task lists Rush but you can't find one, you're under-wristbanded — knock out the prior Showcase or Invitational first.
Skill-tied tasks (Hard Charger, Kangaroo, etc.): they almost always tick instantly when the skill pops in the corner. If the pop-up shows but task doesn't tick, you triggered a tier variant the task didn't expect (e.g., a "Great Kangaroo" sometimes mis-credits). Trigger a plain version cleanly to be safe.
